Hello Fringe-curious people!
This is my first fringe diary on my phone all typed on my phone with my thumb and unwelcomely edited by auto-correct
Day one:The fringe doesn’t officially start until there’s Drama and that’s exactly what happened around midnight on the very first day of the fringe. Tim and I are staying in our friend’s kid’s room until our student accommodation is available. It’s a great room with blue child-sized handprints all over the wall . Such a brilliant decorating idea. I just hope when that 5 year-old rebels he doesn’t burn the house down.
After going to Heroes and Laughing Horse Launch, we made it back to the house where we found the door jammed so we jammed the key in and got that stuck too. It didn’t help but at least it matched.
Our lovely friend came to the rescue and broke down his own door for us. I was surprised that none of the neighbors called the cops.
Got to sleep around 2:00AM, had to rush to town at the ungodly hour of 11:00AM to do a sound check and pick up flyers.
Has a massive and performer discounted burger and chips at City Cafe, my venue. That lasted me the whole day. Ran into Damion Clark and showed him how his phone has been spying on him Fitbit style.
Met my lovely Flyerer and enjoyed flyers to people, who at the moment are not suffering from any sort of fatigue. Apparently, I stood behind Frank Skinner at a cafe for a few minutes and didn’t recognize him. I just thought he was an old guy taking a little too long to put sugar in his coffee.
While filyering, I saw a fringe famous reviewer and noticed how much they walked like a Dickensian weasel. Performers should watch reviewers walk down the street before reading their reviews, not one reviewer walks down the street like Superman. They look more like they are late paying a gas bill to the mafia.
First show was lovely although the room set up was not ideal. There are booths along the walls that are much more comfy than the benches between them and of course, the audience sat in the comfy booth seats , which makes the show seem less like a show and more of a support group circle. This time everyone had a great time anyway. Tim and I went back to the flat and didn’t have to break the door down. Progress!
More coming soon.....
