Hello fellow information grazers,
This week I am a guest on the Believe? The Myths & Conspiracies Pod with very funny comedians Phil Green and David Ferguson, where we, on their latest episode, discussed or rather reminisced about the Satanic Panic of the 80’s and 90’s as well as my love of bad art, She-Ra, He-Man and the gigantic boobs on Shadow Weaver…which reminds me….this is the time of year I start thinking to myself, “It’s time to get in shape for my Halloween transformation into either She-Ra or Sarah Conner….” and I never think of it again until it’s too late….
I had an amazing time talking to Phil and David as I tried to articulate what I remembered about living through the Satanic Panic and how busy it kept my amygdala for longer than I am embarrassed to admit. The more I think about it, the more I realise how Satan really has done the world a solid for taking responsibility for despicable and devious acts our collective culture we, for whatever reason, simply can’t face or fix. Satan’s a real standup guy!
I think I may be possessed…
A week or so after the record, David, Phil and I went to the Prince Charles Cinema to watch Labyrinth on the big screen to commemorate it’s 40th anniversary and revisit all of my puffy and wizard white sleeve fantasy fashion favourites on the silver screen. I had forgotten how much glitter was in the movie and never noticed how the bog of eternal stench was covered in buttholes releasing gas….I don’t know how I never noticed that as a child…actually I do….I was a girl who was so NOT curious about anything butt related that the last time she talked to her best straight boy friend was when he revealed he was so fascinated by farts in the sixth grade, he launched into a recitation of an encyclopaedic worthy description, over the phone, of how the gases of a fart are released from the butt cheeks . That little girl, hung up on him and never spoke to him again…
I had a delightful time with Phil Green and David Ferguson, they are outstanding, funny guys that are also a great hang. I couldn’t help but notice how often, during the recording my right hand seemed to keep trying to make the sign of the devil when I was gesticulating with my left hand…I suppose that was the demon that’s possessed me since I left evangelicalism’s fault…
